Meet Zoe Gellert—a Westchester-raised writer and inventive whose work blends journalistic rigor with a vivid creative spark. Now a senior at Tulane University, Zoe is receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in English. This combination fuels both her curiosity about the human mind and the clarity of her prose. On campus, she is a staff writer for The Hullabaloo, covering everything from city-council debates to student-led sustainability initiatives, and she steers editorial vision as editor-in-chief of Hopelessly Yellow, Tulane’s fast-growing lifestyle magazine and digital platform.
Zoe’s leadership and love of community date back to her high school years, where she served as Class Executive peer mentor and sat on the youth board of her temple. Between her first and second years of college, she interned with Stroll Magazine’s Chappaqua edition, authoring the September and October cover features that highlighted local families’ civic contributions. She also worked as an intern for the CED Clinic in Massachusetts, which focuses on patient-centered care and alternative treatment with Cannabis. Zoe is continually dedicated to researching and writing about Cannabis while destigmatizing the negative connotations around the medicinal plant.
In the summer of 2025, Zoe is deepening her commitment to mental health advocacy as a research and data analysis intern at 2nd Arc Psychiatric Associates. There, she helps translate complex clinical findings into reader-friendly articles that broaden public access to evidence-based care.
Although New York will always feel like home, Zoe keeps part of her heart in New Orleans, where she revels in the city’s multicultural rhythms and volunteers with various nonprofits. Her writing portfolio is as versatile as her interests: investigative campus reporting, narrative opinion essays, lyrical poetry, and detailed medical research. When she’s not drafting her next piece, you’ll find her juggling two (or three) projects at once, experimenting with design, or simply living life to the fullest.
